The Swenson House Historical Society

We Would Love to Have You as a Member!

The mission of the

Swenson House Historical Society is to:

​

  • Preserve, protect, and maintain the historical home and its contents.

  • Be accessible to schools, universities, and civic groups.

  • Provide educational opportunities.

  • Be a physical anchor for neighborhood renewal.

  • Serve as a resource for the preservation of Abilene residences of historical significance.

All donations - including membership dues - are tax deductible.

Volunteer Opportunities

​

  • Help with hands-on rehabilitation projects and preparation of house events.

  • Work with the Big Country Master Gardeners in the garden or sprawling beautiful grounds.

  • Train to be a docent to provide tours and preserve the valuable history of the Swenson Family.

Member Benefits

 

  • $50 Well-Wisher members will receive the quarterly newsletter and discounts on all special events.

  • $100 Supporter Member will receive the above benefits plus a 20% rental discount and a docent-guided tour for 2 upon request.  Voting privileges for trustee selection.

  • $250 Benefactor will receive above benefits plus a complimentary docent-guided tour for 4 and an opportunity to take a portrait during Spring, Halloween, or Christmas seasons while home is decorated.

  • $500 Patron will receive above benefits plus a 25% rental discount. Patrons will receive a docent-guided tour for 6 people.

  • $1000 Philanthropist will receive above benefits plus a 50% rental discount and docent-guided tour for 6 people. Philanthropists are given 4 complimentary tickets to either Derby Day or Boo Bash events.

  • $2500 Corporate Sponsorship will receive a 50% rental discount for meetings, corporate party, or team building site. Corporate Sponsors will receive a group docent-guided tour and photo opportunities. Corporate Sponsors will also receive a 6-person table at the annual Derby Day or Boo Bash event.

  • $5000 W.G. Swenson Visionary all the benefits above and something so special you have to ask. In addition, $3,500 of your visionary membership will be deposited in the Swenson House Endowment Fund.  W.G. Swenson Visionary will also receive an 8-person table for the annual Derby Day or Boo Bash event.
